About the ESMI TTA Center

SAMHSA's National Training and Technical Assistance Center for Early Serious Mental Illness

The ESMI TTA Center is a new national training and technical assistance (TTA) center developed by SAMHSA to address early serious mental illness (ESMI), including first episode psychosis (FEP) and clinical high risk for psychosis (CHR-P). The ESMI TA Center is a centralized, national resource that provides education, training, and technical assistance on evidence-based, evidence-informed, and promising practices related to the identification, assessment, and treatment of ESMI.​

Key objectives of the ESMI TTA Center include:​

  • Identifying and developing resources to meet the evolving needs of states, territories, local providers, direct care staff, communities, family members, and individuals experiencing ESMI
  • Disseminating and supporting the adoption of ESMI evidence-based, evidence-informed, and promising practices
  • Providing TTA consultation to SAMHSA’s CHR-P grantees and MHBG 10% ESMI set-aside funded programs in support of implementing and increasing access to ESMI services and supports​
  • Implementing peer-to-peer Learning Communities among peers such as those in state agencies and provider organizations, as well as individual practitioners.​
