Community Outreach and Education
Resources on public education to increase knowledge of the signs and symptoms of ESMI and reduce the stigma associated with ESMI, as well as outreach to and the development of referral pathways with community referral partners where youth reside or access services.
Identification, Screening, & Assessment
Brief screening tools, universal screening procedures, clinical assessment and differentiating diagnosis for CHR-P, FEP, other diagnoses, co-occurring disorders, including substance use, distinguish cultural nuances from symptomatology, and how to discuss diagnoses with individuals and families.
Treatment & Support Services
Training on evidence-based, evidence-informed, or promising models of care, fidelity monitoring and measurement, treatments (e.g. CBT for psychosis, CBT for trauma) psychoeducation materials, substance use reduction strategies, academic (e.g. Supported Employment), vocational (e.g. Supported Employment/Individual Placement and Support), peer and family support, pharmacotherapy, treatment and discharge/transition planning, effective step-down strategies, and engagement strategies that maximize enrollment and retention.
Finance
Payment design and rates, case rate payment, assess cost/staffing of current programs, Medicaid state plan amendments and waivers, private insurance, and sustainability strategies.
Other Areas of Need
Special populations and geographic considerations, provision of service in rural and frontier communities, providing evidence-based and evidence-informed culturally and developmentally appropriate services to transition age youth and indigenous individuals, culturally relevant programming, and coordination with crisis call centers and law enforcement.
